OMAN AIR: applies to return to Muscat—Singapore route
Aeroroutes is reporting that Oman Air has applied to return flying to Singapore. The application for the Muscat—Singapore service is to commence in September of 2025.
Oman Air has been working on its destination and codesharing agreements recently. It has also applied to fly to Athens, increased its Moscow service, and sought expansions of its codeshare agreements with Lufthansa, Garuda, and the first Omani-based low-cost airline, SalamAir.
Middle Eastern airlines, including Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways, already provide services to Singapore. The Muscat based airline has not flown to Merlion City since May 2017.
Oman Air is scheduled to join the OneWorld alliance from June 2025.

Flight Schedule
Oman Air plans to operate daily flights to Singapore using a Boeing 787-9, which includes the formerly First Class suites now marketed as private Business Suites.
- WY861 departs Muscat at 21:35, arrives Singapore 08:10 +1 day.
- WY862 departs Singapore at 09:25, arrives Muscat 12:10
Not all filings for slots are taken up, so although this is a good indication of what new routes Oman Air intends, it is not guaranteed. Oman Air already flies to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in the region, suitable for integrating with a route to Australia, say with Thai Airways or Malaysian Airlines.
Connectivity with Qantas
The addition of Singapore to Oman Air’s network would provide additional connectivity options for Qantas, a fellow OneWorld member.
Qantas operates flights to Singapore from all major Australian cities, including Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
Unfortunately, the Oman Air flight times are not ideal for linking to Qantas flights to Australia. Most connections would require an overnight stay. Qantas Singapore departures for Australia tend to be in the afternoon and evening, requiring a long Singapore layover. An overnight stay may be required in the other direction.
Changi Lounge Access
Both Qantas and Oman Air are members of OneWorld (albeit Oman Air only joined in June 2025). Depending on their frequent flyer status or class of travel, frequent flyers can visit the Qantas First or Business Lounges. Other OneWorld lounges, such as Qatar Airways or the Cathay Pacific lounge, would also be accessible, depending on what terminal the flights depart from.
2PAXfly Takeout
I’m a big fan of Oman Air, so I hope this additional connection point in Singapore does eventuate. I do wish the connections with Qantas flights were better. Maybe the timing of the slots will change between now and September 2025.
I have experience connecting with Oman Air out of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International. both are fine airports, but, not a patch on Changi!
