QANTAS: Double Status Credits or Points promo from now to 31 October

QANTAS: Double Status Credits or Points promo from now to 31 October

Usually predicted for February or March each year, Qantas is offering a double status credits of points promotion for bookings made between now and Thursday 31 October for travel between 1 November 2024 to 19 October 2025.

Qantas has been shovelling out a number of announcements before its AGM on Friday, 25 October in Hobart.

Why book during a double status credits promotion?

This is the time to guarantee your climb up the status ladder or to confirm your status for another year. It means you need to do half the travel to gain the needed number of status credits in order to retain or advance your status with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

It’s the easiest way to confirm your status of Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One, or to climb the status ladder.

The steps required

Here are the steps you need to take to book and earn those Double Status credits or points:

  • Register for the promotion on the Qantas site using your frequent flyer details
  • Make an eligible booking between now and 11.59 pm (AEDT) on Thursday 31 October
  • Eligible bookings are for travel from 1 November 2024 to 19 October 2025
  • Eligible flights include regional (QantasLink), domestic and international Qantas flights, including those on the Qantas wet-leased aircraft from Finnair (Sydney to Singapore and Sydney to Bangkok)
  • Jetstar, Emirates, Oneworld airlines flights and codeshare on partner airlines are NOT eligible
  • Status credits earned on this promotion do not count towards triggering the Loyalty Bonus or the Platinum/Platinum One Bonus Rewards.

Note of Caution

If earning double status credits or double points is not in your list of desireable goals for travel, then this is not the time to book Qantas flights. Almost universally, prices charged for flights during this period are at the upper end of Qantas pricing.

2PAXfly Takeout

I live for Double Status Credit promotions, as they are the quickest way to retain my Platinum status. However, this is not a cheap exercise, and I always need to be cautious that I don’t get carried away with Double Status Credit fever and book trips just for the sake of retaining status.

Make sure you keep your wits about you. To gain perspective, I check prices on other airlines and routings on Google Flights to make sure that I am not paying a ridiculous amount of money just to maintain my Qantas status

If you are not after points, wait until after the Double Status Credits/Points promotion. Qantas usually has some form of sale.

In 2023, Qantas ran a Red Tail sale to the Pacific, a surprise 72-hour sale to Australian destinations and a North American sale in November.
