VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: Triple Status Credits promotion – but act fast.
If you missed out or didn’t qualify for the recent status match promotion (like me), then this is your chance. With Triple status credits on offer, you can attain premium status with Virgin Australia in triple quick time!
You only have 72 hours, though. The promotion is on now and ends at a minute to midnight on Wednesday, 29 May 2024.

What you need to do
First up you need to be a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer program. Next, you need to register for this promotion: Velocity triple status credits activation link on the Virgin Australia website. You need to do this before making any eligible bookings. Remember bookings need to be made before the promotion ends at 11:59pm on Wednesday 29 May.
Fly by when?
The other important condition is that the flights you book need to be taken before the 31st July 2024.
Eligible Flights
An ‘Eligible Flight is any Domestic, trans-Tasman or International Short-Haul Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight for travel. But it needs to be between 27 May 2024 and 31 July 2024 (inclusive) that normally earns Status Credits.’
But flights that include a partner airline component won’t count:
‘Tickets purchased on codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines or Virgin Australia operated flights combined in the same booking as a partner or non-partner operated flight are not eligible for this Offer’
The Offer fine print
And you can’t include already booked flights. Look for the T&C’s tab here to get the full lowdown on what is in and what is out.
Example
Instead of crediting, say, 55 status credits on a business class one-way flight between Sydney and Melbourne, you would get 165. Make those two return flights, and you will retain your Gold status (400 Status credits) or be well on your way to earning it (500 Status credits).
2PAXfly Takeout
If you are planning to travel before the end of July, take advantage of this offer if you need to gain, renew, or upgrade your Virgin status. Gold status will give you lounge access and most of the desirable perks for a fairly low number of status credits, 500. Aim for that if you can.
Triple-status credit offers are rare, but Virgin/Velocity often had double-status credit offers, so If you can’t take advantage of this now, another will likely appear before long.
I haven’t checked this out, but as with Qantas, it is unlikely you will get both a fabulously discounted sale fare and triple status credits – but you never know!
What did you say?
