South American service on Qantas
Qantas also services this route 13.5 hour route four times a week. Although LATAM is no longer a member of the OneWorld alliance, it still partners with Qantas on this route

- QF28 departs Santiago 1:30 pm, arriving Sydney 5:50 pm plus one day
You will also be travelling on a Dreamliner but in a Qantas three-class configuration of 42 Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 28 Premium Economy seats arranged 2-3-2 and 166 Economy seats in a standard 3-3-3 seat map.
2PAXfly Takeout
Last time I travelled this route was in a Qantas 747 – Queen of the Sky, sadly may they RIP. The LATAM Dreamliners, despite their old-fashioned layout, are quite comfortable in Business Class, and I actually found them more comfortable than the flight on Qantas. It was a shorter flight between Santiago and Buenas Aires, though.
If South America hasn’t been on your list of desireable destinations, add it now. The continent is endlessly fascinating, from the Amazon to Carnivale and Machu Pitchu. I encourage you to visit. Personally, I can’t wait to explore more of this intriguing continent.
Weird way to post the schedule. It’s a LATAM flight from the SCL base, so it should be SCL-SYD, and then how long on the ground, then SYD-SCL.
The flight has a 5-5hr turn in Sydney.
Hi Johnson, Thanks for the comment. I take your point. However, as an Australian based blog, I invariably start the route detail with the flight out of its Australian port. Food for thought though.
