VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: Double points promotion

If you are a regular Virgin Australia customer, here is your opportunity to rack up some significant Velocity loyalty points.

The current Velocity Double Points promotion will give you twice as many points for any flights booked until the end of June 2024.

The first stop is to visit the promotions page, type in your Velocity number activate the offer, and then book those flights before the end of the day on Sunday 25 February. So you have just 5 more days to do it. The flight you book need to be between then and 30 June.

Points Earn

This promotion means that you will earn 10 points per dollar rather than the standard five. Unfortunately, the status points you usually get as a Silver, Gold or Platinum Velocity member do not earn double points. The doubling only applies to the base level earned.

The double points only apply to Virgin Australia operated flights both domestic and international short-haul. You won’t earn any points let alone doubles on Velocity Reward Seat bookings. So flights operated by partner airlines and their codeshare flights don’t count for this promotion.

You may need to be patient, as bonus points may take up to four weeks to lodge in your account, after the flight.

Redemptions

You can redeem Velocity points on flights with Virgin Australia, its partners, and of course – if you want to fritter them away – on shopping.

This is a good move if you are a Virgin Australia customer. Put it together with the Virgin Status Boost promotion, via the Velocity App if you received an email about the promotion (running until the 28 March), and you could be a bit of a winner. The Status Boost offers additional status credits according to the number of flights booked during the promotion period irrespective of cabin flown.
