REX: Melbourne-Brisbane from 17 December 2021
Rex will now start serving the Brisbane – Melbourne route, twice daily from 17 December 202. One step closer to pursuing its aim of servicing the ‘golden triangle’ of Sydney, Brisbane-Melbourne-Sydney.
To celebrate the introduction of this service, Rex is selling fares for as low as AU$79 one way for travel un until 30 April 2022, but you will need to purchase before 30 November 2021. There are no Xmas or other blackouts on these ‘Rex Reconnect’ fares.
Oh, and they have extended all tickets and destinations in the ‘Rex Reconnect’ sale through until 30 November
The announcement of this new route also coincides with changes in Queensland border, travel and quarantine arrangements.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
With the advent of this fare, Rex is closer to becoming a true competitor to the other three airlines, Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin. I look forward to travelling with Rex soon after my inaugural flight was thwarted due to lockdowns.
