COVID-19: Victoria lockdown from 8pm tonight
Victoria is to go into lockdown from 8 pm this evening Thursday 5 August 2021 for 7 days. Having reported no cases a day ago, today saw the announcement of 8 cases.
The 8 pm start is to avoid any spreading events this evening. Apparently some occurred last time when the lockdown started at midnight.
The concern of health officials is that there might have been further community transmission from students infected by the teacher who attended Al-Taqwa College several days ago.
The 7 day length is not guaranteed. It may go longer.
The lockdown is state wide due to detections in wastewater in some regional areas.
Support packages for this lockdown are also being arranged for time taking off for testing and isolation until results (AU$450), and for those who need to isolate for two weeks the payment is AU$1500.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
We are with you Victoria!
