COVID-19: NSW Lockdown now extended by 4 weeks to 28 August
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has just announced a 4 week extension of the lockdown, taking it from the previously scheduled 30 July, to 28 August.
The extended lockdown comes with some concessions including:
- Construction in non-hotspot to resume from Saturday
- Rapid antigen testing for year 12 students returning to schools
- Singles bubble for those who live alone
- AstraZeneca vaccine made available for anyone over 18 at NSW health clinics, mass vaccination centres and 450 pharmacies by Friday this week
Background
With NSW reporting 172 yesterday and 177 new cases of COVID today (Wednesday 28 July), there was no way lockdown was ending this week as previously scheduled.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
Oh, dear. I got my 2nd vaccine shot last weekend. If you haven’t started the immunisation process – get onto it!
Fortunately, I still have an underwear drawer (plus a few other storage areas) to tidy.
