COVID-19: Trans-Tasman Bubble NSW pause extended to July 6
After an initial 72 hour suspension, quarantine free travel between New South Wales and New Zealand has been paused until midnight on July 6.
To quote the NZ COVID-19 site:
- The pause on quarantine-free travel from New South Wales to New Zealand will continue until 11:59pm (NZT) on Tuesday 6 July.
- You cannot travel to New Zealand from anywhere in Australia if you were in New South Wales after 11:59pm (NZT) on Tuesday 22 June.
- The travel pause also applies to those transiting through NSW. This means you cannot drive through NSW to another state to fly to New Zealand, or leave NSW by air to get to another airport.
Things are changing at a rapid rate, so make sure you check this advice page before you embark on any travel between Australia and New Zealand, and follow the appropriate applications and declarations. Otherwise, you could find yourself heading off to quarantine or being refused entry to New Zealand.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
I’m due to fly out to NZ not long after the current pause. How do you rate my chances?
