COVID-19: Victoria faces 7 more days of lockdown with some regional relief
So the restrictions are extended for another week for Melbourne.
Regional Victoria does get some relief however. Residents can travel within non-metropolitan areas of the state, and business outside Greater Melbourne can re-open from midnight on Thursday 3 June.
With additional cases reported in regional Victoria, and no cases reported in NSW – cross fingers, rural and interstate community transmission has not occurred. Monitoring of close contacts over the next 24 hours will be crucial for these changes to go ahead.
Expect a continuation of flight reductions so check with your airline or travel agent if you are booked to travel.
Check COVID-19 advice state by state
Expect states to update travel restrictions in reaction to this lock-down extension in Victoria. Check each state’s guidelines, and check again before you travel:
- Australian Capital Territory
- New South Wales
- Northern Territory
- Queensland
- South Australia
- Tasmania
- Western Australia

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
