Qantas: Offers cheap lottery bribes for the vaccinated from July
Will this motivate people to be vaccinated – mmmmm – maybe, but not me. I’ve been booked in for weeks.
Alan Joyce of Qantas has released details of incentives for flyers to get vaccinated. But it’s a lottery really, although you could win free flights for a year.
“We’re going to offer 10 ‘mega-prizes’, at least one for each state and territory, where you will get for a year, for a family of four, unlimited economy class travel on the Qantas and Jetstar network”
Alan Joyce, Qantas CEO
Hotel group Accor – which also runs the Qantas lounges will offer 1 million points to the winners through its reward program, giving the winners free accommodation.
Who’s eligible?
Anyone who gets vaccinated before the end of 2021, and that includes if you were vaccinated before the competition commences. The ‘lottery’ will be run through the Qantas app.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
