COVID-19: Qantas Points and Vouchers for getting the vaccine – 4 new Victorian cases
The SMH is reporting that Qantas is thinking about offering incentives for flyers who are immunised against COVID-19.
The Qantas group is talking doemstic or international travel vouchers and/or 1000 frequent flyer points.
The article quotes Stephanie Tully, Qantas chief customer officer:
“Qantas is a big supporter of Australia’s vaccine rollout because of what it means for public health, but also because it’s the key to keeping our domestic borders open and safely restarting international travel as well. The situation in Melbourne shows the importance of everyone getting vaccinated.”
Good news for Victoria
Only 4 new local cases have been reported today (28 May 2021). 2 were reported in hotel quarantine, caught overseas. That’s down from 11 local cases yesterday. Let’s hope that’s the beginning of a trend.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
