The ABC news website is predicting that the Victorian government will announce a lockdown today to try and curb the state’s growing coronavirus outbreak. It’s expected that the lockdown will be for a minimum of 7 Days.
With 11 cases reported overnight, that takes the total for this current outbreak to 26 cases, with over 80 potential transmission sites identified.
Victorian government ministers met late yesterday (Wednesday 26 May, and again this morning.
The lockdown should be confirmed at a press conference scheduled for somewhere around 10:30 or 11am. We should also know then if the lockdown applies to Melbourne and selected country areas, or whether it will apply to the whole state.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
