Virgin Australia: Adelaide Lounge to open before March 2021
ET is reporting that the Virgin Australia lounge is going to open towards the end of February – earlier than its previously announced availability in March.
Virgin Australia’s lounge policy seems to be evolving. It has closed a few smaller regional lounges (Cairns and Alice Springs from memory), and left up in the air the lounge in Canberra – which is now scheduled to re-open in ‘early’ 2021. Questions still hang over The Club invitation only lounges too.
Originally the Adelaide lounge was slated to reopen in April 2020, several months after the old lounge closed, and an interim lounge had been opened. Well that was all pre-COVID-19, and an ownership change for the airline.
The airline has promoted the new Adelaide club as being the leader in the redesign of Virgin lounges across the country.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
Apparently, the new Virgin Australia lounge design is more casual than the template established by architect firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer in 2011. I’ll be interested to see the lounge when I head to Adelaide in March (border restrictions allowing).
