REX: Anything QantasLink can do, REX can do better!
Rex (Regional Expres) has just issued a statement that it is increasing some regional frequencies in line with Qantas Link that has just doubled their flight to destinations where they are competing with REX. The bastards!
From 6 July 2020, Rex will be providing daily weekday return services to these competitive
routes and will also provide twice-daily return services on certain days in order to facilitate
day-return travel.
You can see the new frequencies below:

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
Oooooooo! Things are hotting up in the regions. Qantas is very protective of its dominance, and sees the current state of play as a way to gain further advantage. Its as if, that given it will be met with a diminished Virgin Australia, it wishes to further assert its dominence in the regions.
REX was quick to respond to stories about the proportion of government funding it has received, wanting to ‘correct the record’ about it being the biggest benefactor of COVID-19 related government airline funding largess. The AFR has an excellent article evaluating the REX claim if you want to venture deeper.
Are we seeing a regional capacity war, funded by government subsidy?
What did you say?
