United Airlines: LAX – Australia routes suspended

Flights on United out of Sydney and Melbourne are being suspended as of March 23. The only flights that will remain are Sydney–San Francisco, which will continue to run daily.

This follows cuts by American Airlines and Delta Airlines who have also suspended flights between Australia and Los Angeles. From the Australian end, Virgin Australia has also suspended flights to LAX.

Like many airlines, United is trying to save as much money as possible and is closing its Polaris lounges in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Newark.

The airline is also slashing other international routes equaling an 85% reduction, as well as vastly reducing domestic flights in line with plummeting demand.
