Emirates First Class dance of the seven veils ditches gold bling and faux walnut
Like Salome’s ‘dance of the seven veils‘ Emirates has changed the video header on its website to tease the details of its new First Class Suites.
This is hot on the heels of the launch of Singapore Airlines First Class Suites a week or so ago.
The Launch
The suites will officially be launched at the Dubai airshow on 12 November – Sunday, with the first route and flights starting Brussels to Geneva on December 1st. That’ll be a one glass flight.
Let’s face it, anything would be better than the cheap bogan bling of the current suites.
What they want us to know ahead of the launch
We already know that there will be a reduced number of suites from 8 to 6 on the 777 from the advance seating plan:
Faux gold and walnut to go?
From the promo video, it looks like there will be:
- Mood lighting where the passenger can control the colour
- Cool beige leather seats
- A large screen
- Lots of electronic control buttons – that might affect window shades, lights, video, sound, flight attendant, ejecting something, temperature and seat controls etc
- a door that opens on hinges rather than slides
- a lack of bling or faux wood grain
Well at least that’s my takeout. It looks like their ditching the gold bling and the faux walnut.
So far – unlike Singapore Airlines – no leaks. On the other hand, there is still 2 days to go!
