QANTAS: Gold Status Fast Track match with 16 Airlines for 100 Status Credits
Qantas has launched a promotion for high value frequent flyers on 16 airlines to fast track status with Qantas.
All you need to do is ‘express interest’ (Qantas in providing not guarantees of the match!) is be a bronze of silver Qantas Frequent Flyer (QFF), have an Australian postal address in your QFF profile, and have the relevant status on the named airlines below.
You’ll have 90 days to accumulate those 100 QFF status credits, and once completed, you will automatically be upgraded to Qantas Gold. And, during those 90 days, you have to qualify, you get the same privileges as you will when you achieve Gold status.
Remember, normally you would need to earn 700 Status Credits to reach Gold, which would require a spend of over AU$10,000. Under this Fast Track deal, you can do it for under AU$2,500 if you say, fly Melbourne to Cairns return in business.
You can start by Expressing your Interest before 18 December 2020, or Joining QFF if you are not already a member.

First you need to express your interest or join if you are not already a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Once Qantas has reviewed your expression, they will contact you, and you should have the following ready to provide to them:
- activity statement for the last 18 months demonstrating your earned status with a qualifying airline from flying (status from gifting, or pooling of Status Credits or complimentary status do not qualify).
- Statement should contain month and year, membership number, name and tier.

Make sure the other airline details match those you have supplied to Qantas.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.
The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.
This is a great offer, even though the maximum ‘matched tier’ is Qantas Gold. That means if you hold a higher status in one of the eligible airlines, it’s not a true ‘match’. But gift-horse, face.
You will need to work hard at qualifying if you normally fly economy – about 5 Sydney to Melbourne return trips, or you could do it in one trip, say Melbourne to Cairns in business. Gold status won’t get you into the Qantas Business Lounges, or their International First Lounges, but it will get you a meat pie in Adelaide, on a good day.
