O solo mio. Rome and Milan in 14 days

Oh no! Not Italy for a fortnight!

Sometimes you just gotta drop everything and fly to Italy to accompany your partner to a conference in Rome, attend a friend’s 50th birthday, and catch up with some foodie gal-pals, who you didn’t even know were going to be there until 5 days before you caught the plane.

Well, at least that’s what happened to me.

Last minute, really?

Alright, I may be exaggerating the last minute nature of this trip, as the flights were booked about nine months ago in September 2017. However, given my other work commitments and our recent trip to Myanmar up until two weeks ago – I’ve not had a lot of time to put in my usual research and planning. This was not helped by managing to ‘launder’ my iPhone in the washing machine the day before we left. The upside is that I have a shiny new iPhone X, but it did take over half a day to update everything.

More in later posts, but what you need to know is:

• We travelled between Australia and Italy on Qatar – an A380 and a 787-8 – but neither with the new Q-Suites
• We are staying at accommodation in Rome booked through One Fine Stay – the first time we have used this service
• Our return will also be on Qatar, but this time in an A330-200 and a 777-300
• Rome and Milan are our two stops

I hope to be catching up on the trip to Myanmar, and to add to this Italian sojourn over the next week, so keep your eyes peeled for new content.
