UPDATED Even more leaked photos of new Singapore Airlines First Class Suites. Squeal!
Secrets
Well, it’s hard to keep a secret these days. Just ask Apple.
Singapore Airlines is set to announce on 2 November their new cabins to be installed on the next delivery of A380s which will start servicing Sydney next year. Except someone on FlyerTalk already did – you can still see the protective plastic on the carpet.
Suites move to upper deck
We were promised a complete refresh, and a move of the Suites from downstairs to upstairs. In fact, people have been trying to work out the configuration based on shots of the unpainted aircraft and its upper-deck window configuration, through to a misplaced image on their booking engine. (keep reading below the image – and to the UPDATE for the link to more leaked photos!)
Leaked photos
But Jaffar over at FlyerTalk has published images that actually purport to be the real thing – well at least two pictures of a mockup.
They look sensational. Like a mini bed-sit (that’s a studio apartment to my America cousins).
I am excited – but having only traveled on their current product this year – I wonder how couples will handle this new configuration – doesn’t look like the old ‘double bed’ has been retained. Mind you, it wasn’t really a double bed. Where those bolster cushions are in the image below, there is a big old fat divider, that would wreck anybody’s back of erotic intent. I liked the suites idea, but not the execution. It surprised me, but I liked the more open configuration of Qantas First.
UPDATE !!
I take it back about the double bed. Check out these additional images
Media Launch Details
Ok – if you are in Singapore on the 2nd, you might want to try and wangle an invitation to this:
- Singapore’s Suntec Convention Centre
- the launch begins at 9.45am with an opening address by SQ CEO, who will then unveil the new cabin products
- Q&A to follow through to 10.45am
- 10.45am onwards, media can crawl all over the new suites and seats
Lets hope they keep up the caviar service.
Well – we only have two images of the new First Suites – we still need the details of what facilities are available and how it all works, and the new Business, and Premium Economy. So I guess they still have something to announce on 2nd November.
